Penn Masala At UT Austin

When highly acclaimed music flows right up to your doorstep, cultural appreciation and any spare time should give you reason enough to check it out.

Penn Masala, the world’s first Hindi a cappella group, is performing at UT Austin on March 1st , 2008. The group was founded in 1996 by students from the University of Pennsylvania. Since then, Penn Masala has regaled audiences with music that represents a fusion of eastern and western cultures. They have performed in all the major cities in the US, as well as Toronto, London and Mumbai, alongside artists such as Sunidhi Chauhan and A.R. Rahman. The group is promoting its latest album, Pehchaan, which was released in 2007.

The show will be held at 7:30 pm on March 1st (Saturday), in the Texas Union Ballroom. The event is jointly sponsored by two of the biggest cultural organizations on campus, the Indian Cultural Association and the Indian Students Association.

Tickets will be sold at West Mall starting on the 25th of February between 11 am and 2 pm. The cost for members is $10, non-members is $12, and VIP seating is $15. For more information, contact ica@uts.cc.utexas.edu or presidentutisa@gmail.com
